Meet Dr. Leger

Dr. Sabrina Ali Leger is a board-certified psychiatrist with specialized training in both child and adolescent psychiatry and adult psychiatry. Her clinical work is rooted in developmental understanding, diagnostic clarity, and a commitment to long-term mental wellness for individuals and families.

She completed medical school at St. George’s University, adult psychiatry residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship training at Stanford University. Prior to pursuing medicine, she earned a master’s degree in Cognitive Science from McGill University.

During her fellowship, Dr. Leger developed a strong interest in parenting therapies, recognizing that the most effective way to help a child is often by supporting the people and environment that surround them. As a result, she pursued training in young child play therapy, CBT for teens with anxiety and depression, Parent Management Training (PMT), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Her approach is further shaped by psychodynamic psychotherapy study at NYU, which deepened her interest in reflection and insight as tools for long-term growth.

She completed training with Postpartum Support International and is currently working toward her PMH-C certification in perinatal and postpartum psychiatric care. Her interest in this area deepened through her own fertility and pregnancy journey, and her firsthand experience with how difficult it can be to access thoughtful, well-informed support during this time.

Dr. Leger has extensive experience treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, and neurodevelopmental conditions. She has specialized training in the treatment of pediatric bipolar disorder and eating disorders, and works collaboratively with families to tailor care based on developmental needs, values, and goals.

She lives in the South Bay region of Los Angeles with her family and has enjoyed caring for children, adolescents, and parents throughout California. Her practice, Family Minds, was created to offer something different: psychiatric care that is grounded, integrated, and quietly transformative.
